Walk in the footsteps of the kings and prophets, through underground passageways and in the waters of the Siloam tunnel (Hezekiah’s tunnel) by flashlight. Join a magical and mysterious journey among ancient shafts, walls and fortifications of the City of David – the place where it all began.
Tour route
- Starting point: City of David National Park Visitors Center
- Impressive panoramic view from Beit Hatzofeh Lookout
- Mazar Excavations – The Palace – an impressive public building from the period of the Judaean kings
- The government area and remnants of private homes
- The underground water system – Warren’s Shaft, the Spring House, and the Canaanite Pool
- Hezekiah’s tunnel (water depth up to 70 cm). Alternatively, it is possible to walk in the dry Canaanite channel.
- Endpoint: City of David National Park Visitors Center

Public transportation:
Route 1 – Central Bus Station – Kotel
Route 3 – Central Bus Station – Kotel
Route 38 – Jewish Quarter (circular route the goes by the Kotel)
Route 2 – From Kikar Tzahal (IDF Square) / Yitzhak Kariv Street (circular route operated by Superbus)
Taxis:
Taxis are always allowed to enter through Jaffa Gate; therefore, y can get to the City of David by taxi.
Arrival by private car:
Important note: It is difficult to find parking next to the Kotel and the City of David. These are our recommended arrival directions.

Walking distance from Karta / Mamilla parking garages to the City David approximately 20 minutes. Arrival by taxi is recommended. - Mt. Zion parking lot (fee charged). Navigation with WAZE
Zion Gate / David’s Tomb parking lot (fee charged) – Approximately 9-minute walk to the City of David. Parking based on availability.
Navigation for walking:
Coming from the Kotel, turn left at the Dung Gate and it is a 2-minute walk to the City of David. Navigation with Google Maps

אנחנו בחרנו לעשות את הסיור המודרך של "עיר דוד המקראית". בתחילת הסיור עלינו לתצפית על ההרים הסובבים את ירושלים ומשם התחלנו לצעוד לעבר נקבת השילוח. בסיור יצאנו למסע בזמן, עברנו בין פירים וירדנו אל מתחת לאדמה במעברים תת קרקעיים. שיא האטרקציה מבחינת ילדי הייתה נקבת השילוח - נקבה ארוכה באורך של כ-533 מטרים חצובה בסלע. צעדנו בה במשך כ-30 דקות לאור פנסים. המים בנקבה קרירים ובמקומות הגבוהים מגעים לעומק של כ-70 ס"מ. למי שלא רוצה להירטב (למרות שבאופן אישי אני ממליצה שלא לפספס את החוויה), קיימת אפשרות ללכת במעבר תת קרקעי שמקביל לנקבה מבלי להירטב.
היום יצאתי לטייל עם חברים בעיר דוד , נקבת חזקיהו בריכת השילוח, סיימנו בקשת ווילסון, ארבע שעות של הליכה עם 532 מטר של הליכה במים עד ניקבת השילוח ועוד כ 400 מטר של הליכה במחילות, עם סריקה והסברים של מדריך מקצועי ומלא ידע - היה מרתק.
החוויה מופלאה, ירושלים הקדומה - לגלות עוצמה של מקום, התחושה, לטייל בעיר התנ"ך. ניקבת השילוח/נקבת חזקיהו.. נקבת מים מושלמת, הליכה בתוך המים...ממליצה בחום לכל המשפחה...תצטיידו, סנדלים ופנס ראש.
אז עוד הפוגה קטנה והפעם - ירושלים! הלכנו לעיר דוד המקראית , עם מסלול בתוך המי מעיין הקרירים. פשוט תענוג! טיול ממש מקסים. לקח לנו הכל משהו כ 3 וחצי שעות. נכנסנו גם לעליה הרגלית שזה בעצם הרחוב מלפני 2000 שנה, שנמצא מתחת לעיר דוד ומתקיימים שם עבודות ארכאולוגיות, ירדנו לתעלת ניקוז שמתחת לרחוב הזה - ממש קפיצה לתקופה של לפני 2000 שנה. הייתה לנו מורת דרך ממש מקסימה בשם עופרה. מאוד ממליצה. הכניסה לתושבי הדרום - חינם.

You can take shuttles from the entrance to the Pool of Siloam back to the visitor center, at a cost of NIS 7 per person.
(You can buy a ticket from the usher at the Pool of Siloam) or return on foot through the Canal or the boardwalk in the City of David National Park.
